Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the shoot take?

Shoots can last up to 2 hours, though usually we are finished quicker. 2 hours allows enough time for you all to settle in front of the camera, but also isn’t too long so kids (and others) don’t start getting grouchy!

When should I book my maternity shoot?

Maternity shoots work best when your bump is fully popped (and obviously before your little one arrives) I find the best time frame to book is between 32 and 37 weeks.

What are the age ranges for your shoots?

If you'd photos of your newborn shoots I recommend you little one being between 1 - 3 weeks whilst they are still so new and tiny.

For the family shoots I like babies to be at least 3 months old, or big enough to hold their heads up. This gives us the possibility for lots of variety!

Where should we take our photos?

For newborn shoots I will only do these in a home setting. That means you know you have everything close to hand (who knows when that poo-nami will hit) which is really reassuring for new parents.

For maternity and family shoots these can be at home, out and about or both!

What will we be doing during the shoot?

Having as much fun as possible!

Seriously though, there will be cuddles, kisses, laughing, tickling, eating, jumping, chatting, running etc! My aim is to capture you as naturally as possible. Don’t worry though, even though my style isn’t posed I do offer some gentle direction. This allows me to stand you in the best place for light. We essentially just get to hang out for a couple of hours.

Can we have shots of the whole family together?

Definitely. I want to capture as much as you as possible, as naturally as possible.

What about bad weather?

If our shoot is outside and it’s raining I will ask to either move the location to your home or we can reschedule.

I don’t mind the rain, but my camera kit isn’t keen.

What if my kids are ill?

If your children are ill we can reschedule for the first time at no extra cost. However if you need to reschedule again there may be a small rebooking fee.

What happens after the shoot?

After I’ve finished with you there’s still a bit of work to do. I filter through all images picking out the very best and then edit them making selections on what will be edited in colour or in black and white. Sometimes I do both.

This can take anytime between 2 - 4 weeks.

Once I have finished the editing process send you a link to your own online gallery.
